1) ABOUT INTERNSHIP

Under the Skill Development Mission, Govt. of India has taken a new initiative to produce ready to use Graduate and Diploma Engineers through Internship Program. This aims to develop skill and knowledge on the practical sphere of the industries. The concern of the industries regarding the technical education system not producing ready Graduates and Diploma Engineers shall only be addressed with the on-time intervention of industries by providing internship facilities in their industries/establishments. Therefore, if such technical students are exposed to the real world of work by the industries/establishments, it would help the industries/establishments also delivering upon the availability of industry ready Graduates in the market and they can fulfill the need of skilled human resources to increase their productivity in the competitive market

To give impetus to the Internship Program, Govt. of India has entrusted BOPT (ER), Kolkata and other three Regional Boards to monitor the Internship Program in their respective regions.

It is a well known fact that if such training program is effectively implemented by the industries, it shall benefit them on one hand and on the other hand shall create employment opportunities directly or indirectly for the Graduates immediately after their passing out from their institutions. All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has mandated three Internship Programs for technical Graduates during their course of studies. This ambitious mission will not be successful without active participation and cooperation from the industries/establishments fraternity. BOPT (ER), Kolkata seek support from all industries/establishments and technical institutions located in 13 States of Eastern Region of the Country for effective implementation of Internship Program and fulfilment of objective of Govt. of India

2) NOTIFICATION

THIS IS TO BRING TO THE NOTICE OF ALL THE TECHNICAL INSTITUTIONS (ENGINEERING   DIPLOMA COLLEGES) AND INDUSTRIES/ESTABLISHMENTS LOCATED IN THE 13 STATES OF EASTERN REGION OF INDIA

Skill development at all levels of education and in all trades has been a central focus of Govt. of India in the recent past. Under the Prime Minister’s initiative, the skill development program is being implemented and monitored across the country in different forms and ways. Industries are always expressing their views that most of the Graduates passing out from technical institutes are unemployable. Accordingly, to improve the employability, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has introduced a mandatory Internship Program for such students, objective of which is to enable the Graduates develop and acquire necessary skills to become industry ready for employment in today’s fast changing technology.

In this direction, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India has entrusted BOPT (ER), Kolkata and other three Regional Boards to monitor the Internship Program in their respective regions. It is also to mention that many of the technical institutions are already implementing the Internship Programs. However, such Internship Programs are not given due recognition and reflection in the National Data. Therefore, BOPT (ER), Kolkata would urge upon all the concerned institutions and establishments to implement the Internship Program more effectively and furnish all such data to BOPT (ER), Kolkata for collating, analysing and providing feedback to all the stake holders including Govt. of India. Efforts are being made to develop an e-platform i.e. webportal for seamless sharing of the information across the stake holders. However, till such platform is fully functional, we welcome all the stake holders to adopt Procedure developed by BOPT (ER), Kolkata. The procedure for Internship Program is available on www.bopter.gov.in for adaptation by the Institutions and Industries/Establishments.

Help and cooperation from technical institutions and industries are highly solicited.
